Angular Displacement Transducer Use In Throttle Control
One prominent manufacturer of industrial engines for gas emissions pumping and electric power conversion takes advantage of the precise angular measurement of a Trans‑Tek ADT in throttle control.
Installed in a large industrial engine, a Model 605 ADT provides angular position feedback of the throttle arm, which can move up to 90°.
The throttle arm is then linked to an internal hydraulic actuator. As the throttle arm moves, the signal from the ADT is fed into a data acquisition system. Comparing the ADT output to a predefined table of voltage vs. engine RPM allows a closed-loop system to assure that the proper engine speed is maintained. This information is also used to rate the overall performance of the engine as part of ongoing product development.
